Nike Split22 to keep athletes hydrated in diverse altitudes Posted: 03 Feb 2012 02:53 AM PST Asmita Prasad: Created by designer John Whaley, the Nike Split22 Dual Bladder Adaptable Hydration System is an innovative new system to help athletes stay hydrated during long distance endurance races. Carrying hydration and nutrition is critical for athletes participating in these events but the standard 70-oz. drinks carriers that are industry standard at the moment can undermine the performance of a long distance endurance athlete participating in new events like Ultra Mountain Bike Trail Racing or Ultra Marathon Running that are all set to be introduced at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Split22 The Nike Split 22 Dual Bladder Adaptable Hydration System looks to provide these athletes with a way to carry their hydration and nutrition supplements on their own in a way that is non intrusive and does not hinder the performance of the athlete in any way. As the athlete drinks through a single standard half-full 70-oz. pack, it begins to slosh immensely which can hinder the concentration of the athlete. However, since the chamberized Nike Split 22 Dual Bladder Adaptable Hydration System is worn on the back, its load remains evenly distributed and the user still has the option of accessing the drinks easily. With no sloshing drinks bottle to worry about, the user has the freedom to use their arms to pump them up. At the moment, the Nike Split 22 Dual Bladder Adaptable Hydration System is just a concept. Interandem to ensure better social interactions for urban commuters Posted: 03 Feb 2012 02:51 AM PST Rohit Ram Singh: Shanghai is one of the most populated cities in the world with a population of more than 23 million. Due to high population density, the streets are crowded and noisy. To overcome this hustle, designer Zhang Ming Yang has come up with an innovative idea that he calls as Interandem. The designer says that due to the advancements in medicine, older people will become more active in next 35 years, which implies that more space in family cars would be required. Interandem is designed keeping in mind the needs of modern Shanghai. Also due to the development in network people will make fewer communications.
Interandem The most interesting thing about the design is its entrance system. The passengers enter the vehicle through its entrance integrated wheels. Passengers can interact with other Interandems and can go across the other connected vehicles. This would altogether bring a new travel experience. Several social activities like meetings etc. can be achieved through its 360 degree rotating seats and lifting platform. Its internal trim parts show that it uses OLED technology to light rendering. The screen on the front panel can be used to adjust the seat, the lighting system and the whole inner atmosphere. Interandem would provide a larger volume and support various social interactive activities. Bigger space would enable easy storage and would offer a better traveling experience altogether. This vehicle would certainly change the face of Shanghai, making it a better place to live. We can expect to see this concept vehicle in the upcoming 35 years. Designers would certainly dig this design and work towards something more interesting and innovative. Once produced, this vehicle would definitely become an eye candy in other hi-tech cities like Beijing and Tokyo. |

LikeBelt to update your Facebook account with a tender hip thrust Posted: 03 Feb 2012 01:30 AM PST Asmita Prasad: Facebook addiction has reached epic levels and most people don't even remember how they shared their liking for things before the little blue thumbs up buttons came into our lives. So far, the extent of obsession for "liking" and sharing "liked" items on Facebook was limited to people liking pages devoted to those products and people but DeepLocal, a company working with Near Field Communication technology (NFC), has created a belt that would allow people just merrily walking down the street to "like" people or places or products by thrusting your hips in their direction when you're wearing the LikeBelt.
LikeBelt As lewd the gesture is, CEO of DeepLocal, believes that using the LikeBelt would replace gestures like the thumbs up and high five when it comes to sharing our appreciation for things and people. The gesture may be very rude and may get you booked for obscenity or even have you filed as a sex offender/pedophile in most parts of the world but DeepLocal believes that the wearable piece of tech could be really useful when you actually want to share your liking for something and you just don't have a phone with access to Facebook around.
LikeBelt With all that ease of use, you'd just have to ensure you never leave the home without stretching out your hips first. But like all good things in life, this belt is also too good to be true. Apparently, DeepLocal has showed no interest in marketing the LikeBelt as a finished product though they are more than willing to disclose the mechanism for DIYers. To make it, you'd need a belt with a buckle and attach an NFC antenna behind it. Next, you'd have to use an NFC compatible Android phone to connect the belt's interactions to your Facebook account. Since LikeBelt reads RFID tags that are inexpensive and are coded in an NFC format, the technology can be used in virtually all kinds of marketed products. Imagine going to a bookstore and if you see a book that you like, you can simple thrust your hips at its RFID tag and the app on your phone will instantly update your Facebook profile and share the info on your own Wall or even on a friend's profile. Though NFC on its own is yet to take off in a big way, the developers of LikeBelt are hopeful that it will be useful in practical applications as well and allow businesses to narrow down a client's tastes and likes the moment they walk into the store to provide them with a better choice of products. But until that moment comes, try not to walk around wearing a DIY LikeBelt and thrust your hip at everything or person that catches your fancy. Via: Wired |

iBamboo speaker to get recycled plastic “Urban” companions
This is a great gadget for those who listen to music on the go. The device has not hit the market yet and is being tested for its usability. It was developed to meet the demand for a more durable speaker, which can withstand damage. Although it is made from recycled plastic, the device is expected to be stronger than other appliances in the market that are made from metal or plastic. Also, the gizmo will be aimed at green living enthusiasts, who are increasingly showing a preference for green products.
Picture Gallery iBamboo speaker to get recycled plastic “Urban” companions Since it is made from plastic, the notes produced by the piece sound considerably different from other iBamboo products. The earlier speakers had a warm look and resounded mellow tones. But the intonation coming out of these speakers has a sharp punch and is sort of blunt. This makes it a good choice for hard hitting music which has vociferous and brassy notes with crisp beats. Powered by resonance and amplification just like its antecedents, you do not need electricity to juice up the speaker. The model will also be of the same size and shape as the previous lineup from iBamboo. The device will come in a carry pouch, which will also be made using eco friendly materials. The gadget will be available in two different exterior finishes, clear and with solid colors. It will mostly be retailed for $29. Via: Gizmag |
